KEY LEGAL UPDATES & INFORMATION
 
  • The Alaska Court System, through Supreme Court Order 8144, has stated that grand juries will begin on June 1. The Court will expect potential jurors to bring face masks and will observe social distancing guidelines. 
  • Jury trials are suspended through July 6.
  • Civil and criminal non-jury proceedings are permitted after June 1 – subject to the restrictions set by the presiding judges.    
AK RESPONDERS RELIEF LINE
 
Alaska Health and Social Services has launched an Alaska Responders Relief Line to provide behavioral health support and practical help for health care providers and those working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response who are being personally and professionally impacted by the pandemic.
 
The line is specifically designed to support first responders experiencing behavioral health issues (crisis, anxiety, isolation, depression).
 
It is anonymous, available 24/7, and staffed by behavioral health colleagues who can provide empathetic and nonjudgmental support.

Zoom 101: Using Zoom for safe and effective meetings

Many organizations are using Zoom for internal meetings and online gatherings. Join ANDVSA staff to learn the basics of setting up secure Zoom meetings, effective facilitation tips and how advocacy programs can keep survivor information private when providing services virtually.

COVID-19 Online Learning Series

The COVID-19 Online Learning Series, jointly developed by staff at the National Alliance to End Homelessness and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council, offers training and support to new and existing staff in their efforts to 1) keep both themselves and those they serve safe from acquiring and transmitting the disease, and 2) to rapidly re-house and connect individuals experiencing homelessness with the care and services they need.  Guidance in the following courses can serve as a helpful tool for communities in planning their COVID-19 responses.
 
Access to these courses for the first 2,500 users is underwritten by Kaiser Permanente. Once 2,500 spaces have been filled, these courses will remain available at a fee. 
 
 

National LGBTQ Institute on IPV: Spring Webinars

National LGBTQ Institute on Intimate Partner Violence is hosting a series of webinars in April and May. This webinar series aims to support the field to increase LGBTQ access and inclusion in direct services, policy, research practices and more.
